Bio

Anne Wrigley is honored to be working with CNSI Education, contributing to its effort to promote science education in the local Santa Barbara School District. She began working with LEAPS in January, 2008, preparing for her work coordinating the after-school science program. Anne took over the coordinator position in March, 2008. In the fall and throughout the academic year 2008-09, she will continue this role as a LEAPS graduate fellow.

Anne received her bachelor of science degree in physics (with a minor in mathematics) from Bates College, a liberal arts institution in Lewiston, Maine. Following her undergraduate work, Anne pursued graduate studies in physics at the University of Connecticut, where she eventually obtained her master of science degree. During her graduate studies in Connecticut, she was inspired both by her work teaching physics as well as her involvement with inner-city Hartford, CT youth, and moved to Santa Barbara to act on this inspiration. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in science education at UCSB's Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, with an emphasis in teaching and learning. Although her research interests and academic passions are constantly evolving, she is currently conducting an educational impact study surrounding chemistry and chemical engineering graduate students involved in a U.S.-China collaboration. In addition, and prior to her work with LEAPS, Anne was program coordinator of the UCSB Physics Circus, a group with a similar mission to provide exciting science experiences for local youth.
