NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute (QLCI) for Present and Future Quantum Computation announced

July 30, 2020

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $25 million over five years to establish the NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute (QLCI) for Present and Future Quantum Computation. Facilitated by the California Institute for Quantum Entanglement (CAIQuE), a UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI), the QLCI for Present and Future Quantum Computation connects UC Berkeley, UC Los Angeles and UC Santa Barbara with five other universities around the nation and in California. The UC Santa Barbara portion of the project will be led by Professors Ania Bleszynski Jayich and David Weld, whose teams will explore scalability, quantum simulation, and benchmarking in two AMO-based quantum information platforms.
