Description

Introduction to quantitative PCR on the CFX96 Touch Real-Time PCR Detection System

Quantitative PCR (qPCR) has become the gold standard technique to quantify cDNA and gDNA. This seminar will review the fundamental theory of qPCR and best practices for a sound experiment. The CNSI Genetics Core recently acquired a CFX96 Touch Real-Time PCR Detection System, and we will review its capabilities and ease of use. The CFX96 Touch is a powerful and flexible instrument, featuring 5 color multiplexing, advanced optical technology, and precise temperature control with thermal gradients. Paired with CFX Maestro Analysis Software, CFX Instruments provide superior data collection, statistical analysis, and data visualization capabilities for a variety of applications.

The CNSI Genetics Core also offers the QX200 Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) System for nucleic acid quantification. How do you know which technology, qPCR or ddPCR, is right for your experiment? We will describe a stepwise methodology to choose between these complimentary technologies to obtain the best results for any experiment.
