PCT Electron Beam Irradiation System

PCT Electron Beam Irradiation System

Description

The PCT electron beam irradiation system features an electron accelerator which operates at voltages from 80-200 kV and up to 20 mA of current and 4 kW power to provide electron irradiation doses of up to 1300 kGy. Electrons are accelerated within in a vacuum-sealed lamp, passed through a titanium foil window, and delivered out of a 5 mm hole into a nitrogen-inerted chamber. Samples may be loaded at a range of heights up to 10 mm beneath this hole to vary the irradiation dose and energy of delivered electrons. This tool is primarily used for the bulk irradiation of 2x2mm diamond samples to create vacancies and enhance nitrogen-vacancy center formation in quantum defect research.
