David Weld

Biography

David received a B.A. in physics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. After working as a postdoctoral researcher and research scientist at MIT he joined the faculty at UC Santa Barbara.

Research

The Weld group is an experimental ultracold atomic physics group in the Physics department at UC Santa Barbara. The group uses quantum degenerate gases to explore a wide variety of quantum mechanical phenomena, largely in the area of dynamics. Research interests include nonequilibrium quantum dynamics, quantum emulation of ultrafast phenomena, quantum quasicrystals, Floquet engineering, anyon synthesis, and quantum metrology.
